Albury Community Health 

Albury Community Health Service provides a range of community and clinic based prevention, early intervention, assessment, screening, treatment, health maintenance and continuing care services designed to improve or maintain the health and wellbeing of individuals and the communities of Albury and surrounding areas.

The Albury Community Health Service works in conjunction with Albury Wodonga Health, local specialists, general practitioners and other service providers to ensure that you get the best care.

Clients have the opportunity to be assessed by a multidisciplinary team of primary health care professionals. This ensures needs are identified and can be assessed for manageable health outcomes.

Housing a range of community services in the same location assists in great coordination and delivery of care to clients.

The service is open to all people with some eligibility criteria applicable.

Interpreter Service

This service is available to clients from non-English speaking background to have information and consultation in the language of their choice.

Alcohol and Other Drug Services

Supports and assists individuals to meet their goals in reducing harm associated with alcohol and/or other drug use via withdrawal, counselling or Opiod Treatment Services. Audiometry

Audiological assessments incorporating otoscopy tympanometry and audiometry to children from 9 months to 18 years.

Child and Family Nursing

Monitors the growth and development of babies and young children 0-5 years, and provides educational support to parents and carers. Services offered include child health checks, feeding and nutrition, parenting skills and depression screening.

Child Protection Counselling

Counselling and therapeutic intervention for children and caregivers involved with the NSW Child Protection System. All referrals for this service are directed through NSW Family & Community Services.

Community Nursing

Provides a range of health care services in the client's home or at the Community Health Centre. These include TB services, wound assessment, short term medication assistance, post-acute care, catheter care and assessment and referrals to other services or support groups. Referrals accepted from patients or other health care providers.

Continence

Assessment, conservative treatment and advice on continence issues, available to all age groups.

Services to children 0-18 years and eligible adults on approved health benefit cards as per NSW Health eligibility criteria. Access to treatment is prioritised according the NSW Health's Priority Oral Health Program policy. Medicare card required.

Diabetes Education

Encourages self management through education. Provides a service to clients with newly diagnosed diabetes (Type 1 or Type 2), gestational diabetes, commencing insulin or requiring assistance with management. No referral necessary.

Dietetics

Provides services and advice in areas that require nutritional assessment and counselling including children and adults.

Generalist Counselling

A free and confidential counselling service for adults in the Albury region. Self or professional referrals are welcomed.

Hepatitis C

Consultation, assessment, advice, education and treatment for Hepatitis C. Hep C nurse available 3 days a week. Visiting physician 1 day every 4 weeks.

Midwife Care Program

Offers women with uncomplicated low risk pregnancies antenatal care with a focus on education, preparation for birth and parenthood. The program provides an opportunity for women, their partners and families to participate fully in the pregnancy and birth.

Needle Syringe Program - Hosted by MLHD

Offers safe disposal of community sharps and needle and syringe distribution under the principles of Harm Minimisation. Also provides health education and referral community services.

Occupational Therapy (Paediatric)

Provides services to children under 8 years with delayed development, fine motor difficulties, sensory processing and learning difficulties affecting their ability to perform everyday activities, and children under 18 years with a physical disability who do not present with an intellectual disability.

Physiotherapy (Paediatric)

Albury Community Health offers a physiotherapy service for children aged 0-10 years, as part of a multi-disciplinary team. We offer assessment and intervention where there are concerns with infant motor skills, head shape, leg and foot posture, walking, and later gross motor skills and coordination. Screening for infants born prematurely who are at an increased risk of developmental problems is also offered.

Service hours are from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. No fee is charged for this service.

Sexual Assault

Provides crisis intervention, forensic examinations, court support and ongoing counselling to adult, adolescent and child victims of recent sexual assault, and their non offending family members. In a limited capacity, the service can respond to adults who experienced sexual assault as children.

Sexual Health

Free, confidential service which provides information and testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and blood borne viruses (BBVs) including HIV, Hepatitis C and Chlamydia for people at risk. Sexuality support, vaccinations, sex worker certificates, HIV monitoring and care. Specialist medical officer available. Promotes sexual health through education and training.

Speech Pathology (Paediatric)

Assessment, diagnosis, intervention and support for children with communication and/or swallowing difficulties aged 0 - 12 years, who do not present with an intellectual disability.

StEPS Program (vision screening)

Offers all 4 year old children free vision screening. NSW Health advises all children to have their vision screened before they start school and strongly recommends participation in the program.
