Important information for volunteers
As a reqruiement of the Victorian Government all volunteers will be required to provide proof of vaccination against Covid 19 and have a current Flu vaccination.
About Volunteer Activities
The Way Finding Volunteer welcomes patients and visitors to the hospital. Stationed at the main entrances of Albury or Wodonga Hospital. They greet people as they arrive, direct or walk with them to various services and provide information about AWH.
The Opportunity Shops are located in High St, Wodonga and Swift St, Albury. The profits are used to buy equipment for AWH. The volunteers in the Opportunity Shops sort and display stock and assist customers with purchases.
Volunteers also deliver Newspapers to private patients in both hospital. Mon to Fri.
Patient Experience Survey is a way of taking “the pulse” in a hospital setting. It is completed on an iPad supplied by AWH. This survey takes approximately 10mins for a patient to complete, itis anonymous and confidential. Positions are available in the Wodonga and Albury Hospital.
The Pet Therapy Program provides general animal assisted activities. It involves animals and handlers (your own animal is required) visiting patients and their families at the bedside or in common areas of AWH. All animals are vet checked.
The Shuttle Service provides a transport service between Albury and Wodonga locations for AWH. A variety of things including internal mail, equipment and the like are delivered by volunteer drivers. AWH provides two vehicles for this purpose. A good driving record required.
The Wellness Centre
The Wellness Centre is located in the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Hospital attached to the Albury Hospital. Volunteers assist similar to a Concierge, by making tea/coffee and provide information about the wellness programs.
Community Palliative Care
The Palliative Care Volunteers provide support for patients and families living with a life limiting illness. Volunteers undergo a comprehensive training program, which equips them to provide companionship, emotional support, transport and at home respite. (Wodonga only).
Pastoral Care
This program provides social, emotional and spiritual support to patients and their family while in hospital. The Pastoral Care Volunteers’ receive comprehensive training for the role.
