We have a large group of Senior Medical staff supporting our inpatient services, providing both elective and emergency care. Our Consultants are accessible to and supportive of our Junior Medical Staff, this coupled with our broad range of clinical services, excellent opportunities for hands on experience and active education program, make AWH the perfect choice to kick start your career in medicine.

Intern Applications 
At AWH, the prevocational doctors are supported by their Consultants and Registrars, who are readily accessible, and provide excellent learning opportunities and hands-on experiences.

Our strong day-to-day support, along with protected intern teaching and faculty specific education offerings, make AWH the perfect place to kick start your career in Medicine. The Intern and HMO programs at AWH are accredited by both PMCV and HETI. AWH has a range of training pathway for the pre-vocational doctor and offers accredited training pathways across. AWH supports the prevocational doctor from internship to being a Specialist via the multiple training pathway available.

Application Process

AWH is located on the Victorian / NSW border and as such there are two potential application pathways:

1. Victorian Match through Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV).
 

  • Applications open 10:00 am on Monday 6 May 2024 and close 5:00 pm on Thursday 6 June 2023.

     2024 Intern Match - PMCV
  • AWH will be participating in the Victorian Rural Preferential Allocation (VRPA) through PMCV match, which is ideal for those interested in working in regional areas.
  • If you are not applying via the VRPA match, then you will need to apply through the PMCV allocation process.
  • You will still need to apply directly to our hospital (by sending in your Intern application form and cover letter) in addition to your PMCV application. Please address the cover letter to the Manager – Intern HMO unit. Please submit the documents to the Intern HMO unit via email: MWUrecruitment@awh.org.au

 

 

  1. NSW Match through Health Education and Training (HETI).

 

Interviews - Candidates will be short-listed and interviewed as per either the PMCV or HETI process.
