Looking for a gift that will have a powerful, positive impact on someone’s life? 

Albury Wodonga Health is proud to announce the launch of its 2024 Christmas Appeal, offering a meaningful opportunity to support quality healthcare across our community all year round. 

This year the appeal is raising funds for the purchase of essential palliative and end-of-life care equipment, aimed at enhancing the comfort and dignity of those facing   a life limiting or terminal illness. 

AWH CEO Bill Appleby said the 2024 Christmas Appeal was an ideal opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the health and wellbeing of the local community. 

‘Palliative care is more than just medical support; it takes a wholistic approach,  helping people with a life-limiting illness to live comfortably and with dignity for as long as possible. It’s also about supporting the families of patients as they support their loved one to navigate this time in their life,’ he said. 

‘This year, funds raised through the appeal will go toward the purchase of syringe drivers, a vital tool in helping us manage pain and other symptoms, ultimately improving the quality of life for palliative care patients.  

‘We are grateful for the continued support of the community, especially at this time of year,’ he said. 

As part of the 2024 Christmas Appeal, Albury Wodonga Health is once again delighted to be partnering with Wodonga Brass to raise funds through the sale of candles at the 49th annual Wodonga Carols by Candlelight on Sunday 15 December. 

As well as the proceeds from candle sales, AWH volunteers and Rotary West Wodonga will be selling raffle tickets throughout the evening with a range of prizes to be drawn on the night. 

Myer Centrepoint manager Rebecca Stefanides is proud to partner with AWH to support this year’s raffle. 

‘Palliative care is often clouded by misconceptions and fear, which is why partnering with AWH to break down these barriers and inspire open conversations is such an honour,’ she said. 

‘Our region’s legacy of altruism and community spirit gives us confidence that, with the right tools and education, we can rally together to support individuals and families facing the challenges of end-of-life care. 

‘No one should navigate this journey alone,’ she added.

Buy a raffle ticket: Tickets will be on sale at the Wodonga Carols by Candlelight on Sunday 15 December. 

First prize -  $500 Myer Centrepoint shopping voucher, a scenic helicopter flight for two over Lake Hume with Helifly,  one year of free haircuts at Just Cuts, and a $200 Peter Jackson voucher 

Second prize - a $150 voucher for Specialist Skin and Laser Clinic, Drip and Dry experience at Sukore Albury, and hair straightener and dryer from Hair House 

Third prize - two tickets to ‘An Evening with Lauren Jackson – Live in Albury’ in February, including a meet-and-greet and photo passes. 

Winners will be announced on the night.
