ALBURY WODONGA HEALTH STRATEGIC PLAN A NEW ERA FOR HEALTHCARE IN THE REGION

Transforming for Our Future so that together, we can advance the health and wellbeing of our community.

Albury Wodonga Health has last week released its 2024-2028 Strategic Plan (the Plan) titled Transforming for Our Future. This ambitious document, which considers both the current and future health needs of the entire community, will inform the health service’s actions over the next five years.

The Plan maps clear priorities for the Albury Wodonga Health, including much needed upgrades to technology and infrastructure and increased service efficiency and effectiveness.

Lifting capacity and capability, a new foundation of value-based leadership and improved workforce attraction and retention are all priorities, leading to more integrated and connected care, safety for staff and patients, and strengthened partnerships and community engagement across the region.

Board Chair, Jonathan Green, speaking at the Annual General Meeting held last week, said the Plan’s vision has four key pillars - Safe Connected Care, Empowered Teams, Regional Leadership and Sustainable Services.

“Our aim at Albury Wodonga Health is to empower healthy, safe, and inclusive communities by consistently providing exceptional high-quality care and delivering excellence in our work,” said Mr Green.

The Plan, which aligns with the Victorian Department of Health five-year Strategic Plan, was developed with broad and extensive engagement with staff, community members, volunteers, partners and local and regional health and community service providers over the last 12 months.

“The community’s insights, perspectives and input are essential to guiding and supporting us, as we together, advance the health and wellbeing of our community. As a Board, we are pleased to have received comments and feedback from more than 560 community members and staff through the consultation process,” said Mr Green.

Bill Appleby, Albury Wodonga Health CEO, said the Plan had been endorsed by the Victorian Department of Health and is about investing in the staff, technology and infrastructure across the health service.

“Our health service aims to deliver safe, high-quality and connected health care, closer to home. To continue to do this well, we need to back in our staff and grow an energised workforce which is caring, highly skilled, compassionate and united through our single purpose and guiding commitments,” said Mr Appleby.

“Our plan for the next five years is ambitious and transformative and maps the challenges and opportunities ahead. We will look back on 2022-2023 as a pivotal year which laid the foundation for everything to come.”

Albury Wodonga Health looks forward to sharing the progress of its Strategic Plan and realising success as a recognised centre of Excellence for Rural and Regional Health; a service that our community, workforce, partners and region can trust and depend on.
